Samsung Expands AI Ecosystem for Galaxy S26, Considers Chip Strategy Shift

Samsung Electronics is diversifying its artificial intelligence offerings for next year's Galaxy S26 smartphones by engaging in talks with OpenAI and Perplexity AI. The MOVE aims to reduce reliance on Alphabet's Gemini and provide users with more AI agent choices. Choi Won-Joon, president of Samsung's mobile division, emphasized the company's openness to competitive AI solutions that enhance user experience.

Parallel to its AI expansion, Samsung is reevaluating its hardware approach. The tech giant is weighing options between Qualcomm chips and its next-generation Exynos 2600 processors for the S26 series. This follows the recent debut of an Exynos chipset in the Galaxy Z Flip 7, signaling Samsung's broader strategy to strengthen its semiconductor independence.
